| July 24, 2015 @ 6:09 am

OCEAN OF HUMIDITY: We have a few scattered showers over West Alabama at daybreak… otherwise the sky is mostly cloudy with areas of dense fog.

The showers are moving southeast, and with rich low level moisture in place, we will maintain the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, although the rain won’t be as extensive as yesterday. Some rain totals Thursday include 2.37? at Helena, 1.69? at Lake View, 1.61? at Montgomery, 1.40? at Coker, and 1.17? at Bessemer.

We project a high today close to 90 degrees in most places with intervals of sunshine away from the scattered showers.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: The upper ridge begins to rebuild, so the weather trends hotter and drier. Still, no doubt we will have a few storms around both days, but they will be much more scattered in nature. Expect a good supply of sunshine tomorrow and Sunday with a high back up in the mid 90s.

NEXT WEEK: Showers and storms stay widely scattered, and mostly during the afternoon and evening hours Monday and Tuesday… then increasing again over the latter half of the week as the ridge weakens. Highs well up in the 90s Monday and Tuesday, but by Friday of next week many places will see a high only in the 80s because of clouds and showers. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

GULF COAST WEATHER: We project about 6 to 8 hours of sunshine daily on the coast from Panama City Beach west to Gulf Shores through early next week, with a passing thunderstorm from time to time. Highs on the immediate coast will be in the upper 80s, with mid 90s inland. The sea water temperature early this morning is 85 degrees. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals. Escape to Gulf Shores Plantation where memories last a lifetime.

TROPICS: Still no sign of any tropical storm formation across the Atlantic basin through the weekend.
