Another batch of thunderstorms is pushing east southeast across Northeast Alabama this afternoon in the wake of the earlier mesoscale convective system that moved into Georgia earlier.

The forward speed is only about 15 mph.

The storms are moving into the Gadsden area at this time.

They are not severe, but will have gusty winds, frequent lightning, very heavy rains and some ominous cloud formations with them.

They will impact the rest of Etowah County as well as northeastern St. Clair County, extending back into Blount and Cullman Counties.

Additional storms are trying to to form to the southwest through the Birmingham Metro, but they are having a tough time so far despite healthy instabilities in the 3,500 joules/kg range. One is northwest of Morris in northern Jefferson County, and another is over extreme northeastern Tuscaloosa County. The Tuscaloosa County cell will move into far western Jefferson County shortly and could affect western sections of Birmingham eventually.
