Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

Much Cooler Today

| October 10, 2015 @ 1:07 pm

Cold front moved through during the overnight hours, when much of Central Alabama saw some showers and a few thunderstorms. Today, the rain is gone and we are seeing improving conditions across the state. Cooler and drier air is settling into the state, and the clouds in the sky right now, will very slowly continue to thin and mix out this afternoon and into the overnight hours. Noticeably cooler today with temperatures mainly in the upper 60s and lower 70s this afternoon after mid and upper 80s for many spots on Friday.

Alabama will host Arkansas at Bryant-Denny Stadium this evening (6:00p CT kickoff)… the sky will be mostly fair, with temperatures falling from 68 degrees at kickoff into the low 60s by the final whistle. Some will want a light jacket or sweater walking from the stadium back to your car after the game.

With a mainly clear sky tonight, and a new refreshing air mass in place, a very nice and cool fall night is expected. All locations should see temps slide down into the 50s by about midnight and by first thing tomorrow morning, lower and mid 50s are expected. Some of those notorious colder pockets in North and Northeast Alabama will even see 40s overnight and we can see that on the forecast temperature map below.

For tomorrow, a superb Sunday of weather is expected across much of Central Alabama. After starting off cool, we should see a sky with plenty of sunshine in it. Temperatures will warm into the upper 70s and a few lower 80s will dot the maps during the afternoon. Even though it will be warm, the drier air means very low humidity which will keep it very comfortable.
