We note some dense fog over East Alabama, where viability is very restricted. That fog burns off by mid-morning, and the day will feature a partly to mostly sunny sky with a high around 80 degrees this afternoon.

SHOWERS TONIGHT: A cold front will pass through the state after midnight tonight, and will bring the risk of showers, and possibly a thunderstorm. Most of you will sleep through this; the main chance of rain will come from about 12:00 midnight through 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. Rain amounts will be under 1/2 inch.

REST OF THE WEEK: Pleasant, dry fall weather is the story tomorrow through Friday with sunny pleasant days and clear cool nights. Coolest morning will come early Wednesday, with mid to upper 40s likely… the coldest spots will drop down into the low 40s.

THE WEEKEND: Another surge of cool air arrives; expect a good supply of sunshine Saturday and Sunday with a high around 70 degrees both days. Morning lows will be well down in the 40s, and some of the colder pockets could reach the upper 30s for the first time this season at daybreak Sunday.

The dry weather continues into early next week; see the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Alabama plays at Texas A&M Saturday (2:30p CT kickoff)… in College Station the sky will be sunny, with about 85 degrees at kickoff. Temperatures will fall into the upper 70s by the final whistle.

Auburn is also on the road; they play at Kentucky Saturday evening (6:00p CT kickoff). The weather will be clear and cool; about 52 degrees at kickoff, with mid 40s likely by the fourth quarter. You will need a warm jacket for this one.

AT THE BEACH: A slight risk of a shower tomorrow from Panama City Beach west to Gulf Shores, otherwise mostly sunny days and clear nights through the weekend. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 60s. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals. Escape to Gulf Shores Plantation where memories last a lifetime.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin is quiet and tropical storm formation is not expected this week. The hurricane season will end on November 30.
