Showers/Storms Late Tonight

| October 12, 2015 @ 3:14 pm

FINE FALL DAY: Temperatures are in the 75-80 degree range across the great state of Alabama this afternoon with a good supply of sunshine. But, we will see some quick weather changes tonight.

A cold front will bring clouds into the state, along with a band of showers and thunderstorms. The rain will enter far North Alabama around 10:00… it should be in the Tuscaloosa/Birmingham/Anniston/Gadsden around between 1 and 3 a.m… and then the lingering showers move into South Alabama after daybreak.

We do note SPC has defined a “marginal” risk of severe weather just northwest of Alabama tonight, but the storms should be weaker here, and severe storms are not expected. Rain amounts should be generally 1/2 inch or less for most spots.

Sunshine returns tomorrow with a high in the mid to upper 70s along with low humidity.

WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY: Wednesday morning will be very cool with upper 40s likely, low 40s are possible across the colder valleys. Then, expect sunny pleasant days and clear cool nights through Friday with highs in the 77 to 80 degree range.

OUR WEEKEND: A new surge of cooler drops in from the north, and it looks like the coolest air so far this season. Highs drop to near 70 degrees Saturday and Sunday, and we will be well down in the 40s early Sunday; colder spots could very well hit the upper 30s. The air will be very dry, and we expect ample sunshine both days.

Dry weather continues into early next week; some hint that showers and strong storms could return toward the end of next week. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Auburn actually travels to Lexington to play Kentucky Thursday night (as opposed to Saturday night as I wrote on the morning package)… the weather will be clear and cool with temperatures dropping from near 60 degrees at kickoff (6:00 p.m. CT) into the upper 50s by the final whistle.

Alabama plays at Texas A&M Saturday (2:30p CT kickoff)… in College Station the sky will be sunny, with about 85 degrees at kickoff. Temperatures will fall into the upper 70s by the final whistle.

AT THE BEACH: A few widely scattered showers are possible on the coast tomorrow from Gulf Shores east to Panama City Beach, otherwise mostly sunny days and fair nights thorough the weekend with highs generally in the 70s and lows in the 60s. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals. Escape to Gulf Shores Plantation where memories last a lifetime.

TROPICS: All is quiet, and tropical storm formation is not expected across the Atlantic basin this week.
