Sensational Sunday
I read on social media that this weather this time of year is a southerner’s reward for surviving a long, hot and humid summer. I completely agree with this statement as the weather just does not get any better than it is today. As mentioned by Bill yesterday, it is “severe clear” again across the state today as the very dry air in place means no rain and also it will be near impossible to see clouds in the sky today.
After a chilly start, with 30s and 40s for most locations, and even some areas of frost, the sun-filled sky will be allowing temperatures to warm into the upper 60s and lower 70s by later this afternoon.
For tonight, another Frost Advisory is in effect for North and East Alabama as some areas of patchy frost are likely and could cause damage to sensitive vegetation. Many areas on Central Alabama will see lows near 40 degrees again, but much like last night, the valleys and sheltered locations could see lower and mid-30s.
The surface high pressure system located over the western part of the Ohio River Valley will continue to slide eastward and will continue to maintain a hold across the Southeast even into the end of the week. That means plenty of sunshine each day, with afternoon highs moderating, going from the lower 70s to upper 70s by the end of the week. Overnight lows will warm as well, going from the lower 40s to the mid and upper 50s. Overall, a terrific week of fall weather is expected and that looks to continue right on into next weekend as well, which is certainly great news for the big race weekend at Talladega.
