Warming Trend Continues

| October 21, 2015 @ 3:30 pm

THIS AFTERNOON: Temperatures are mostly in the mid to upper 70s with a good supply of sunshine across the great state of Alabama.

Temperatures

We stay dry tomorrow and Friday; the sky will be partly to mostly sunny both days. We project a high around 80 tomorrow, followed by low to mid 80s Friday.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Saturday will stay warm and dry with a partly sunny sky and a high close to 80 degrees. Global models continue to trend drier for Sunday, and at this point it looks like most communities will be dry with only a small risk of a shower near the Mississippi and Tennessee border. The high Sunday will be between 77 and 80 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds.

NEXT WEEK: Rain returns to the state early in the week; showers will likely arrive Monday, becoming more widespread Tuesday, and possibly into Wednesday with the approach of a cold front. Some moisture from eastern Pacific Tropical Storm Patricia could be involved along the way, meaning potential for a day with heavy rain at times, but that possibility remains uncertain. Cooler and drier air will arrive Thursday and Friday. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

RACE WEEKEND AT TALLADEGA: Dry weather is the story at the Talladega Superspeedway this week and into Saturday with mostly sunny, warm days and fair, cool nights. Based on the latest computer model data, I think we can drop the small risk of a shower late in the weekend; Sunday looks dry with a mix of sun and clouds. The high Saturday at the Superspeedway will be near 80, and Sunday’s high should be in the upper 70s.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Alabama will host Tennessee at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa Saturday (2:30p CT kickoff… the weather will be partly sunny and warm with temperatures falling from around 82 at kickoff, into the mid 70s by the fourth quarter. No significant chance of rain.

Auburn is on the road; they travel to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks at 11:00a CT Saturday. The sky will be mostly cloudy, with rain and thunderstorms likely during the game. Temperatures will hover in the 67-70 degree range. Take the rain gear; it could be a soaker.

AT THE BEACH: Sunny days, fair nights on the coast from Panama City Beach west to Gulf Shores through Saturday; a few scattered showers could show up Sunday; higher rain chances return on the coast early next week. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals. Escape to Gulf Shores Plantation where memories last a lifetime.
