Rain Returns To Alabama Next Week

| October 22, 2015 @ 2:01 pm

FINE FALL AFTERNOON: Temperatures are approaching the 80 degree mark across the great state of Alabama this afternoon with a good supply of sunshine…

Temperatures

No real change tomorrow; partly to mostly sunny with a high in the low 80s in most places. No risk of rain here.

THE WEEKEND: Warm, dry weather continues. While Texas and some of the adjacent states will have heavy rain and the risk of flooding, our weather stays quiet. Partly sunny days, fair nights. Highs between 80 and 83 degrees Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

NEXT WEEK: Showers will be a possibility Monday, but the rain becomes more widespread and heavier Tuesday. There is a chance that the remnant low of what is now Hurricane Patricia in the eastern Pacific could regenerate near the Texas coast, moving up into Arkansas by Tuesday. If this solution is correct, then we could see heavy rain at times on Tuesday, along with risk of severe storms. Then, we turn cooler Wednesday with lingering showers. Dry, cool weather is likely Thursday and Friday. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

TROPICS: Patricia is now a dangerous, category four hurricane in the Pacific with top winds of 130 mph, and will make landfall on the Mexican coast tomorrow.

Moisture from this system will move up into Texas over the weekend, enhancing the threat of heavy rain and flooding over the central and eastern counties of the Lone Star State. Some of that moisture will more into Alabama by Monday night and Tuesday of next week.

The Atlantic basin remains quiet.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Dry, pleasant weather for high school football games across the state tonight and tomorrow; the sky will be mostly fair with temperatures falling through the 70s.

Alabama will host Tennessee at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa Saturday (2:30p CT kickoff)… the weather will be partly sunny and warm with temperatures falling from around 82 at kickoff, into the mid 70s by the fourth quarter. No significant chance of rain.

Auburn is on the road; they travel to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks at 11:00a CT Saturday. The sky will be cloudy with rain and thunderstorms likely during the game. Temperatures will hover in the mid 60s. Take the rain gear; it could be a soaker with heavy rain possible at times.

AT THE BEACH: Sunny days, fair nights on the coast from Panama City Beach west to Gulf Shores through Saturday; a few scattered showers could show up Sunday; higher rain chances return on the coast early next week. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals.
