Temperatures are in the low to mid 70s, but tonight will be cooler. With a clear sky, most communities will drop into the mid 40s by daybreak tomorrow; colder pockets could see upper 30s.

During the day tomorrow, we project a mostly cloudless sky with a high around 70 degrees. Low humidity, perfect fall weather.

WET WEEKEND AHEAD: Clouds return late tomorrow night, and rain will move into the state Saturday afternoon. Rain will push across the Mississippi border around 12:00-2:00… reaching the Birmingham metro between 2:00 and 4:00, and Anniston/Gadsden around 5:00. Keep in mind these are approximate times and, it could change.

Unfortunately Saturday evening looks pretty wet for trick or treaters, with widespread rain likely. Periods of rain, and a few thunderstorms will continue Saturday night through Sunday. This looks like a good soaking, with most places seeing 2 to 3 inches of rain. On the positive side, severe weather looks unlikely due to low instability and marginal lapse rates.

A decent chance most communities won’t get out of the 60s Saturday and Sunday because of clouds and rain.

NEXT WEEK: Showers will end early in the day Monday, followed by gradual clearing. The rest of the week looks mostly dry, and very mild with highs up in the mid to upper 70s. A few spots might even touch 80 degrees on a day or two thanks to a strong upper high across the Deep South. The western U.S. will be cold and unsettled, with the first big snows of the season for many of the mountain states. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Perfect weather for the high school football games across the state tonight and tomorrow night; clear and cool with temperatures falling through the 60s; some stadiums will be in the 50s by the fourth quarter.

For Saturday’s Magic City Classic in Birmingham… the sky will be cloudy when Alabama State and Alabama A&M kickoff at Legion Field (2:30p CT), temperatures will fall from the 70 degrees at kickoff into the upper 60s by the fourth quarter. Unfortunately rain will move into Birmingham during the game; it could be dry at kickoff, but rain becomes increasingly likely after 3:00.

Auburn hosts Ole Miss Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium at 11:00; at this point the weather looks cloudy, but the chance of rain should hold off after the final whistle. Temperatures will rise from the upper 60s at kickoff to near 70 degrees. by the fourth quarter.

Alabama takes the weekend off.

AT THE BEACH: Mostly sunny weather is the story tomorrow with highs in the 70s. A shower is possible Saturday, with widespread rain likely with a few strong thunderstorms Saturday night and Sunday.
