Flash Flood Watch Expanded

| November 1, 2015 @ 2:20 pm

The National Weather Service has expanded the flash food watch to include a large part of East Alabama as well.

Here is the current radar as of 2:00 pm.

BMX-REF-20151101-1400CST

One to two inches of rain fell yesterday and overnight across Central Alabama and more heave rain is poised to move across the area through the overnight hours.  Areas along and south of I-59 will see an additional 1.5-3 inches of rain with some isolated heavier amounts b

Moisture laden air continues to stream into the state ahead of an approaching upper level trough. This is producing widespread rainfall across southern Mississippi into western Alabama currently. A surface low south of the Louisiana coast will push northeast tonight, enhancing the rainfall.

There could be isolated thunder across Central Alabama but no strong storms are expected.  Severe storm are possible across the Florida Panhandle into southeastern Alabama and southwest Georgia tonight.

The precipitation should be mainly east of I-65 by the predawn hours on Monday and the back edge should be into western Georgia by 11 am. Additional showers will form during the day on Monday as the colder air aloft associated with the upper trough begins to move across.  Highs tomorrow will generally be near 70F.

Drier air will start moving by Monday night. Get ready then for a fine week of weather with ample sunshine, dry conditions and warmer than average temperatures. Lows will warm from the upper 50s early in the week to the lower 60s by midweek. Highs will be in the middle 70s Tuesday through Thursday.

The next rain chance will come late Friday into the weekend. Unfortunately, Saturday looks wet.
