These showers will exit the state soon, and the sky becomes sunny this afternoon as a new surge of dry air moves into the state. The high today will be in the 67 to 70 degree range for most.

TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: Sunny days, clear nights, and cold mornings. We expect lows in the 30 to 35 degree range by daybreak Saturday and Sunday with widespread frost. Colder spots will see a freeze, and come of the valleys could drop into the 20s.

For Birmingham, the average date of the first freeze is November 9, so this cold snap is pretty much right on time.

Afternoon highs on these three days will be generally in the upper 50s and low 60s.

NEXT WEEK: A dynamic storm system will set up west of Alabama, and will bring the threat of flooding and severe storms to areas west of Alabama Monday and Tuesday. Around here, we stay dry Monday, and any showers during the day Tuesday will be pretty widely spaced. But, Tuesday will be very mild and windy at times with a tight pressure gradient setting up.

Our main rain event will come Tuesday night, Wednesday, and possibly into Thursday morning. With little surface based instability, our severe weather threat doesn’t look especially high for now. Rain amounts of 1-2 inches are likely, with potential for more over the western third of the state. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
