Surface high pressure covers the southeastern United States on this mid-November Sunday afternoon, giving us seasonably cool and dry conditions.

The day is made to feel even cooler by the absence of sunshine. Despite the presence of high pressure, mid and high level clouds streaming across in the upper level flow have given mostly overcast skies to a good bit of the area.

Highs across the area will be mainly in the 60s, in the lower and middle 60s north and upper 60s south. Extreme northeastern Alabama will see highs in the upper 50s.

Skies will be partly cloudy overnight, with lows in the 40s. The 30s of the weekend will be gone, at least until the weekend.

A big storm out west will bring severe weather to the Southern Plains on Monday and to areas just west of Alabama on Tuesday. Showers and storms will spread into Alabama late Tuesday night, spreading across the state on Wednesday. While instabilities will be low, they will not be zero, and wind shear looks like it will be strong, so severe weather may be a threat here as well. Stay tuned.
