Dry, Warmer Weather Ahead For Alabama

| November 25, 2015 @ 3:25 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today… we are on a “one a day” holiday schedule through Sunday**

FINE FALL DAY: The only thing on radar around here this afternoon is a smoke plume from a large apartment fire in Hoover…

Temperatures are mostly in the low to mid 60s with a mostly sunny sky.

THANKSGIVING DAY: Could not be better. Sunshine through high clouds… we start the day around 50 degrees, followed by a high in the upper 60s. No risk of rain.

TO THE WEST: A messy storm system will bring the risk of ice and snow to parts of the Texas Panhandle, West Oklahoma, and West Kansas (snow will continue through parts of the Rockies as well), and heavy rain to other parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY IN ALABAMA: Despite the messy weather to the west, our weather stays mild and quiet. The high on all three days will be in the 68-72 degree range with a mix of sun and clouds. A few showers could creep into far Northwest Alabama Sunday afternoon.

NEXT WEEK: A few scattered showers are possible at times next week, but no sign of any really big, widespread rain event for Alabama. Temperatures trend colder late in the week.

IRON BOWL: What a great day for the biggest football game of the year in Alabama. We are forecasting a kickoff temperature (2:30p CT Saturday) near 70 degrees at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, falling into the upper 50s by the final whistle. Scattered clouds, no risk of rain.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
