Alabama’s Weather Stays Quiet Through Sunday

| November 26, 2015 @ 6:39 am

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! We are blessed with dry, pleasant weather early this morning. Temperatures are around 50 degrees, and we rise into the upper 60s this afternoon with a good supply of sunshine through scattered clouds.

TO THE WEST: While we are in great shape, a very messy weather pattern continues to unfold for the Central U.S. beginning tonight, with potential for heavy rain, snow, and ice…

The most significant issues for travelers is the ice accumulation potential for the Texas Panhandle up into the western part of Oklahoma; some spots there could see 1/2 inch of ice, meaning power outages, and roads becoming skating rinks.

TOMORROW THROUGH SUNDAY: An upper ridge holds, meaning dry and mild weather for Alabama on these three days. Highs around 70 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds daily. The risk of a shower Sunday is so small we have taken it out of the forecast for now.

NEXT WEEK: A shower is possible, but not likely Monday; the risk of showers will be higher Tuesday and Wednesday as a cold front drifts through North Alabama. But, rain amounts won’t be too heavy, and there is certainly no risk of severe weather. In fact, we see no real serious weather events for our state for the next ten days. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

IRON BOWL: The biggest game of the year will be played Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn (2:30 p.m. kickoff)… the weather could not be better. Partly sunny with 70 degrees at kickoff, falling into the upper 50s by the final whistle. No risk of rain.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
