Record Warmth Vigil

| December 25, 2015 @ 1:45 am

Just stepping outside and you feel how warm it is immediately especially when you know that it is late December. Well, as of 12 noon, two record highs have been equalled and one record high has been exceeded in Central Alabama.

The temperature reported at the Anniston-Oxford airport at 12 noon was 76 degrees. This set a new record high – so far – by exceeding the previous record of 73 degrees set in 1982.

Tuscaloosa and Birmingham at 12 noon have equalled their record highs. The record for Tuscaloosa is 78 set in 1987 and for Birmingham is 74 set in 1987. It’s highly likely that both of these records will fall especially when you look at the satellite image below which shows a number of breaks in the clouds. It should not take much sunshine to push these values up at least a degree.
