A dreary day across Central and North Alabama with a fairly dense overcast shutting out the sun. This was keeping temperatures in the 50s for nearly all of Alabama with the exception of Mobile where temperatures were in the lower 60s.

The surface low was just north of Memphis just before noon with the cold front moving out of Arkansas and Louisiana into Mississippi. Still looks like the front will move through Alabama this evening and early Sunday dropping our temperatures into the 30s by sunrise on Sunday. With strong cold air advection underway Sunday, temperatures at many locations across Central and North Alabama will struggle to get out of the 30s. South of the Interstate 20 corridor, places should reach the lower 40s, but even those temperatures are about 12 degrees below the 30-year average temperatures for January 9th.

The work week will remain pretty cold for Central Alabama with lows in the 20s and lower 30s while highs remain in the 40s and lower 50s.
