We project a partly sunny sky today with a high in the mid 40s for most communities.

TOMORROW THROUGH THURSDAY: Expect another freeze late tonight and early tomorrow, with most spots seeing a low in the mid to upper 20s, then we warm into the low 50s tomorrow afternoon with a good supply of sunshine. A secondary surge of colder air drops in here tomorrow night; that should push highs back into the upper 40s Wednesday, but then we rise into the upper 50s Thursday afternoon. No precipitation on these three days.

FRIDAY/SATURDAY: A wave will bring the risk of some light rain to Alabama; models are not in good agreement, but it looks like the highest chance of rain will come Friday afternoon and Friday night. The European model (ECMWF) is dry Saturday, while the American model (GFS) keeps some risk of light rain going. Friday should be fairly pleasant with a high close to 60, then the high will drop back into the 50s Saturday.

SUNDAY: The day looks cool and dry, with ample sunshine and a high in the upper 40s.

NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: No sign of any brutally cold Arctic air or winter mischief for at least the next 10 days; see the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details. And see the post on the blog below this one “for snow lovers in Alabama”.

And, we note the AO (Arctic Oscillation) will try and go positive later this month, which could be a sign of the flow of colder air being shut off from the Arctic region, and a trend toward warmer temperatures for us. No forecast, just an idea.
