A tornado watch remains in effect for South Alabama until 9:00 p.m… severe storms remain possible mainly south of U.S. 80, or south of a line from Demopolis to Selma to Montgomery to Opelika.

Rain will end from northwest to southeast tonight as a surface front sweeps through the state, pulling in drier air.

TOMORROW: We project a high between 57 and 60 degrees tomorrow with a mix of sun and clouds; a clipper will bring an increase in clouds late in the day, and it could squeeze out a little light rain over the northern third of the state during the evening hours, but moisture will be very limited, and rain amounts should be light and spotty.

WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY: Dry weather is the story with mostly sunny days and fair nights. The high Wednesday will be in the mid to upper 50s, but we rise into the low 60s Thursday, and then we approach 70 degrees Friday afternoon. It will be a nice preview of spring.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: A weak front approaching from the north could trigger a few showers over the northern third of the state Saturday, but a decent part of the day should be dry with a high in the 67-70 degree range. Then, on Sunday, the front sags south and stalls, so the day will feature more clouds than sun, and the risk of a few rain showers. The weather stays mild with a high in the low to mid 60s Sunday afternoon.

NEXT WEEK: Showers remain possible early in the week… and the chance of rain could continue through mid-week as another wave pushes in from the west. And, no sign of any really cold air for the rest of February. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
