WeatherBrains 528: Roughy, Scruffy Woodsfest

| March 1, 2016 @ 5:15 am

WeatherBrains Episode 528 is now online (February 29, 2016). If you are crazy about weather, this is THE netcast audio program for you!

Dennis MersereauOur guest WeatherBrain for this evening is Dennis Mersereau. Dennis was born in New Jersey during a massive heat wave, likely predisposing him to an intense interest in the weather. He moved to Virginia at the age of three, where he lived in Woodbridge and graduated from Woodbridge Senior High School in 2009. His love for the weather only grew when storms like Hurricane Isabel, the President’s Day Blizzard of 2003, the June 4, 2008, derecho, and the many tornadoes spawned by Hurricane Ivan’s remnants blasted through the D.C. area. He is recently graduated from the University of South Alabama in the rainiest city in the contiguous United States, Mobile AL, pursuing a major in political science and a minor in meteorology. For the last several years, he has provided weather information for readers at Daily Kos, as well as his followers on Twitter and Facebook. He writes occasionally for the Capital Weather Gang.

Other discussions in this weekly podcast include topics like:

  • Extremes: 91 at Imperial, CA, and Death Valley, CA, and -11 at Flag Island, MN
  • Day 2 Outlook from SPC has slight risk over large portion of Southeast US
  • Fairly mild across US except small portion of North Central US
  • Severe thunderstorm watch large portion of OK during our show
  • Astronomy Outlook with Tony Rice
  • and more!

Our email bag officer has been burning it at both ends, so she is out this evening. Hopefully she’ll return next week with a full email bag!

From The Weather Center:
