RADAR CHECK: Rain and a few thunderstorms are over the northern half of Alabama this morning; the most widespread rain at daybreak was north of I-20. We also note a few scattered showers over Baldwin County… otherwise the sky is mostly cloudy with temperatures in the 60s. Most all of the showers should be out of the state by early afternoon

Little change in the day to day forecast across Alabama these final days of April and first days of May. Afternoon highs will remain in the 80s across Alabama for the foreseeable future, and as humidity levels begin to rise, we are going to see more clouds and the chance for scattered showers on a daily basis.
WARM WEATHER HERE TO STAY: Afternoon highs will remain in the 80s across Alabama for at least the next 7-10 days as our summer preview continues. Today will feature a mix of sun and clouds much like yesterday; then we bring in a chance of showers statewide tonight and tomorrow as a weak front approaches.
Severe weather will be active in our west again today, but hopefully, there will be nothing like the last night in Oklahoma with 17 tornadoes. Some of the strong storms could limp into western Alabama tomorrow morning, with wind being the threat.
The severe weather threat shifts a little east today, from southeastern Iowa and western Illinois across much of Missouri, eastern Kansas, eastern Oklahoma, and eastern Texas into western Arkansas and northwestern Louisiana. Today’s greatest tornado threat will exist from St Louis down to Shreveport, Alexandria, Waco, and Dallas.
On the satellite at midday, we see partly sunny skies across the area as there are plenty of fair-weather cumulus clouds mixed in with some higher and thinner clouds.
