Decent Storms West Alabama

Our area of showers and storms over West Alabama has grown into a nice little complex this afternoon.

At 4:55 p.m., the storms were over Sumter and Choctaw Counties. The strongest storm was just north of Livingston along and south of I-59, heading toward Eutaw. A cell out in front of the main complex was just south of Eutaw.

Another good cell was west of Linden.

Movement was generally northeast or nort northeast at 25 mph.

Lots of lightning with the Sumter County cell.

The activity may affect rge Tuscaloosa area, especially areas west of Tuscaloosa in the next two hours.

It has gotten a little muggy over the past several hours, with dewpoints rising into the middle 60s now across the I-20 corridor. Temperatures are in the lower 70s.

Some decent swaths of rainfall have fallen, with some locations over one half inch and some approaching one inch according to Doppler radar, especially over Sumter County.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the rain makes it to Birmingham, but we will keep our fingers crossed.
