PLEASANT MORNING: With a drier airmass in place over North Alabama we actually have a few spots in the 50s; amazingly pleasant for June in Alabama. Oneonta reports 56 degrees just before daybreak; Cullman is at 59. We also note a dense fog advisory in effect for some eastern counties; that fog will dissipate by mid-morning.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Dallas County in south central Alabama, effective until 5:15 PM CDT.
At 3:09 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Duffys Bend, approximately 8 miles northeast of Demopolis, and was moving southeast at 20 miles per hour. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and penny-sized hail, as indicated by radar. These conditions may cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
RADAR CHECK: While most of North Alabama is rain-free this afternoon, we have a few scattered strong thunderstorms over far South Alabama. Heavier ones are producing small hail and gusty winds as they move east/southeast.
Officials gathered to mark the grand opening of a new 25,000-square-foot warehouse at the Port Birmingham terminal — a milestone development poised to significantly elevate the storage and logistics capabilities of Alabama’s inland waterway system.
We are seeing a partly sunny sky today with only isolated showers and storms on the radar across Alabama. For the rest of today, these will remain widely spaced.

The NWS has released a discussion regarding a cluster of storms as they move into north Alabama and southern Tennesse.
RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are in progress over the Tennessee Valley of North Alabama, and also over the southern third of the state at mid-afternoon. The central counties are dry; temperatures are mostly in the 77-85 degree range.
Scattered thunderstorms have developed this afternoon across northern Mississippi, ahead of a surface front. These storms are feeding off filtered heating and dewpoints in the low 70s, which is providing moderate instability.
A developing severe weather threat is unfolding across portions of south-central Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, and northern Alabama late this morning into the afternoon.
It has been a wet and stormy this morning, and storms will continue to be a threat through the afternoon and evening hours. Stronger storms will be capable of producing strong, gusty winds and hail, and there is a non-zero tornado threat.
A severe thunderstorm with 60 mph winds and penny-sized hail is moving northeast through Dallas, Perry, and Autauga counties early this morning.
RADAR CHECK: Just before daybreak large areas of rain and thunderstorms are over West and South Alabama. Some are producing small hail and very heavy rain as the move slowly to the east/northeast. The northern counties are dry.
