NWS Birmingham issues a Dense Fog Advisory for Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Marengo, Perry, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties in Central Alabama until 8:00 AM CST.
COOLER, DRIER: Parts of Alabama are under a bright sunny sky this afternoon, but a few spots are seeing clouds hanging tough. The lingering clouds will dissipate soon thanks to sinking air motion, and tonight will be clear and cool with lows in the 40s.
It has been a cloudy morning, but the sky is clearing and will continue to clear through the afternoon hours as drier air filters into the state.
Little change in strength is forecast through early Friday. Eta could re-intensify as a non-tropical cyclone late Friday or Friday night before becoming absorbed by a larger non-tropical cyclone on Saturday.
DRIER AIR MOVING IN: Clouds this morning across Alabama will give way to a sunny afternoon as dry air returns to the state. Humidity values will be noticeably lower than recent days. Tonight will be clear and cool with a low in the 40s, and tomorrow we will enjoy sunshine in full supply with a high at or just over 70 degrees.
Slow weakening is expected as Eta approaches the west coast of Florida during the next few hours, followed by more rapid weakening after landfall occurs later today. Eta is forecast to dissipate over the western Atlantic Ocean by the weekend.
