SPRING-LIKE DAY: Temperatures are in the 60s over much of Alabama this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds… a few spots are near 70 degrees. But, just to the northwest, Memphis is barely out of the 30s behind a cold front. The front will stall out just north and west of Alabama tonight; tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 45-50 degree range early tomorrow.
All of Alabama is seeing a mix of sun and clouds as we roll into the afternoon hours. It is a mild February day with temperature well into the mid and upper 60s this afternoon.
ON THE MAPS: We have a complex winter weather pattern this morning, with the “polar vortex” cover Canada. This has pulled bitterly cold Arctic air down into the northern U.S… International Falls, MN reports -20F early this morning with a wind chill index of -35F. Under the vortex we have an active southern branch of the jet stream, pushing a series of waves along in the fast flow.
