Alabama Newscenter — Football Preview: West Alabama Set to Begin the State’s Shortest Football Season
West Alabama coach Brett Gilliland says he believes his team will benefit from spring play, even a two-game season.
MAGNIFICENT MARCH AFTERNOON: As advertised, we have sunshine in full supply this afternoon with temperatures generally between 70 and 75 degrees. Tonight will be clear and cool with a low in the 35-45 degree range for most places.
Eli Jacks, the Chief of the NWS Forecast Services Division, released a statement this morning that there will be a major change to the NWS Hazard Messaging Headlines by discontinuing “Advisory” due to the confusion that the term causes, especially compared to a watch or warning.
Michael J. Brennan, Branch Chief of the Hurricane Specialist Unit of the National Hurricane Center, released a public information statement that the center will now start releasing Tropical Weather Outlooks on May 15th, instead of waiting until the start to the Atlantic Hurricane Season on June 1st.
The chill in the air this morning has been replaced with temperatures in the upper 60s and 70s this afternoon. The sky is severe clear from the Tennessee Valley to the Gulf Coast today with nothing but sunshine and blue sky. Tonight will be mainly clear, with lows in the lower 40s for most locations.
Despite the morning chill, we expect a nice warm-up today with sunshine in full supply… the high this afternoon will be close to 70. The weather stays dry tomorrow with a high between 65 and 70, but clouds will increase by afternoon ahead of a disturbance that might squeeze out a sprinkle or two tomorrow night. The air will be very dry, and most places won’t see a drop, however.
