Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9PM for Much of West-Central Alabama

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9:00 PM CST for Bibb, Blount, Jefferson, Perry, Walker, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa Counties.

A line of moderate to heavy rainfall is currently progressing the Alabama/Mississippi state line, and a few severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for a few counties back in Mississippi along the main squall line for winds up to 60 MPH and penny size hail. These will continue to push to the east, and if they hold together, will move into Marion, Lamar, Pickens, and Sumter counties within the next hour or two.

The squall line should move into Tuscaloosa by 7-9PM, the Birmingham metropolitan area by 8-10PM, and the Anniston area by 10-12PM.
