Travel Problems to the North Tonight

| March 11, 2017 @ 2:52 pm

Cold air just to the north of us here in Central Alabama will make for a wintry mis tonight all the way from northern Arkansas across much of Tennessee into extreme Northeast Alabama and Georgia as well as the Carolinas.

That hole you see in the graphic over the mountains of East Tennessee and western North Carolina is a Winter Storm Warning for 4-8 inches of snow.

Across Tennessee, 1-2 inches of snow is expected across Middle Tennessee.

Up to one inch of snow is expected across the higher elevations of Northeast Alabama, including Jackson and Cherokee Counties. There could be a brief changeover to snow over the the rest of the Tennessee Valley and Northwest Alabama late tonight, but accumulations are expected to be light and significant travel problems are not expected.
