A Warming Trend Ahead

WARMER WEATHER NEXT WEEK: After a clear, cold night, a warming trend begins tomorrow, with a high in the mid 50s along with ample sunshine. Sunday will feature a high around 60 with a general increase in cloud cover. We will mention a small risk of a shower Sunday afternoon, but most communities will stay dry.

Next week looks mild, with daily highs well up in the 60s. In fact, some communities in West Alabama might flirt with the 70 degree mark. And, a rather moist airmass will stay in place, meaning a chance of showers on a daily basis. In fact, next week is beginning to look rather wet with a surface front stalled out just to the north, and a persistent southerly flow bringing in very moist air. Sure looks like Birmingham will wind up with a nice rain surplus for 2008 thanks to this wet weather pattern developing. With the primary jet stream to the north, we don’t expect any severe weather threat at this time.

VOODOO LAND: Still no sign of any Arctic air invasion through the end of the month as the Polar jet remains north of Alabama. Sure looks like temperatures will remain above average for the latter half of the month.
