Strong Storms Affecting Lauderdale, Limestone, Colbert, & Lawrence Counties

SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR EASTERN LAUDERDALE…NORTHWESTERN LIMESTONE…SOUTHEASTERN COLBERT AND NORTHERN LAWRENCE COUNTIES UNTIL 1:15 PM CDT.

At 12:39 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms near Killen, or 9 miles east of Florence, moving southeast at 45 mph. Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include…
Florence, Athens, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Moulton, Rogersville, Killen, Town Creek and Lexington.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike several miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Strong gusty winds will be capable of knocking down small tree limbs along with other small unsecured items. Seek safe shelter until these storms have passed.
