A Quick Check On Our Weather At Midday

| August 9, 2017 @ 1:24 pm

Rain & Storms Continue Across Central Alabama At Midday
At the 1 o’clock hour, we continue to have numerous showers and thunderstorms across Central Alabama. An old boundary that set up yesterday will be a catalyst for shower and storm formation throughout the rest of the afternoon. As with yesterday’s rain activity, there will be the possibility for cells to train over the same areas. We’ll have the possibility of storms with gusty winds as drier air has worked in aloft. With the already saturated soil, a few trees could fall with any wind gusts.

A flash flood watch continues in effect for parts of Central Alabama until this evening. Afternoon highs will range throughout the 80s across the area, with the warmer temperatures to the south. Those shower and storm chances will continue into the evening and overnight hours, and lows will be in the lower to mid-70s.

Thursday’s Forecast… Keep Those Umbrellas Handy
Same story, just a different paragraph… We’ll continue to have a soupy airmass in place with an increased risk for showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, as the cold front that is currently located to our south will move northward into Tennessee by the rush hour on Thursday. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.
