Scattered Showers and a Few Storms

| September 16, 2017 @ 2:02 pm

Moisture has returned to Alabama today, and you can certainly feel it in the form of muggy conditions. You can see it too as showers and storms developed during the morning hours and have been lifting north through Alabama. This afternoon, additional showers and storms are and will develop and last through the evening hours with a general motion towards the north/northeast. Most outdoor activities will be fine, but we want to remind folks, WHEN THUNDER ROARS, HEAD INDOORS!

Not everyone will see rain, but where it does occur, it is at least knocking temperatures down a bit into the 70s. Early this afternoon, most locations are in the lower and mid 80s, and by the end of the day, upper 80s are expected, with even 90s down south again.

FOR TONIGHT: Once the sun sets, rain coverage and intensity will decrease significantly, but a few isolated showers/storms could last through 10 PM. There will be some patchy fog overnight, especially in spots that see rain today, so be mindful of that late tonight and early tomorrow morning.

FOR SUNDAY: Showers and storms will thin out tomorrow, becoming more isolated in nature. It will be another warm and muggy day as highs climb into the mid and upper 80s.

NEW WORK WEEK: An upper ridge will hold across the eastern half of the nation, and for Alabama the weather will be warm and mostly dry Monday and Tuesday with only a few isolated showers. Scattered showers and storms should increase Wednesday through Friday as moisture levels rise and a shortwave crosses the Southeast. Highs all week will be in the 80s and lows will be in the upper 60s.
