The Final Day of September

| September 30, 2017 @ 2:04 pm

A very nice Saturday afternoon across the state of Alabama. A few upper-level clouds are streaming across the state, but for the most part there is more sunshine.

Temperatures are nice with low humidity and most locations are into the lower 80s this afternoon with a light east-northeast breeze. No weather issues through the rest of the afternoon and evening hours. There are some lower 90s this afternoon in South Alabama, but those will stay down south.

Tonight, we will see mainly clear and calm conditions with a spread of temperatures of 50s to the north, and lower 60s elsewhere.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEATHER: Auburn hosts Mississippi State this evening at Jordan-Hare Stadium (5:00p CT kickoff)… the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from 82 degrees at the start of the game, to near 70 by the final whistle.

Alabama hosts the Ole Miss Rebels tonight in Tuscaloosa (8:00p CT kickoff)… with a clear sky, temperatures will fall from near 78 at kickoff, into the upper 60s by the fourth quarter.

ACROSS THE USA: Heavy rain and flooding are possible across Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands this weekend; as well as southern Florida. Locally heavy rain is also possible in the southern Rockies. A high rip current risk will continue along the east coast. Meanwhile, frost and freeze warnings stretch from the northern Great Lakes to New England; heavy snow is possible in the northern Rockies.

HELLO OCTOBER: Oh so nice tomorrow with tons of sunshine and cooler temperatures. Tomorrow should only see highs in the upper 70s for most locations across North/Central Alabama.

THE WEEK AHEAD: The pattern continues to look rather dry, although the models hint at some moisture early week, which could cause us to consider mentioning the chance of a few scattered showers, but otherwise very little rain all week with highs in the low 80s and low in the lower 60s.
