Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

Mainly Sunny, Warm Saturday

| October 21, 2017 @ 2:43 pm

Our winds are becoming more southerly today, and that is allowing our moisture levels to rise as our dew points are climbing into the 60s this afternoon. Many of us are seeing mainly sunny conditions, but it is filtered sun as upper-level cirrus clouds continue to stream across the state.

No rain with the clouds and we are going to be staying dry. Temperatures this afternoon are in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Heading into tonight, temperatures will be warmer as we most of us will stay in the lower 60s with gradually increasing clouds.

SEVERE WEATHER TODAY: Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected especially across portions of the south-central Plains late this afternoon into tonight. Very large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes will all be possible and this is where the SPC has parts of Oklahoma, North Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri in an “enhanced risk” of severe storms today.

FOR TOMORROW: Clouds will be increasing through the day tomorrow, as it will be a transition day as a strong upper trough pushes a surface cold front across the Lower Mississippi River Valley. The day in Central Alabama will start dry as clouds increase with rain chances ramping up into the mid to late afternoon. Much of Alabama will be experiencing wet weather by late Sunday evening and through the overnight hours. Highs tomorrow should be held down a little with the presence of clouds with readings in the upper 70s.

WET MONDAY: Our Monday will start off wet and unsettled, with widespread rain and storms expected. Still not expecting severe weather, but a nice soaking rain is ahead for all of Alabama.

There could be some isolated areas of flash flooding as statewide, rainfall amounts are expected to be substantial with widespread amounts of 2 to 3 inches possible, which is a lot of rain, especially for October.
