Beautiful But A Little Cool Out There As We Approach Midday

| October 24, 2017 @ 10:29 am

What’s Happening With Our Weather At 10:15 AM

It is an absolutely beautiful day out there as we are approaching midday, but you will probably need to grab a light jacket if you’re heading out for lunch. Winds are currently out of the northwest averaging around 10-15 MPH, but we could see a few gusts out there up to 20 MPH. That will definitely make if feel even cooler than what the actual temperature is at the moment.

How Do The Temperatures Look Across The Area At 10:15 AM

It’s definitely a cool day across Central Alabama, with temperatures ranging from the mid to upper 50s in the northern parts of the area, to the lower to mid-60s in the south. Birmingham at that time was at 59 degrees, while the warm spot at Eufaula was only at 65 degrees. Jasper and Haleyville are tied at 55 degrees for our cool spots. Sounds like a great day for chili and a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch.

Weather For The Rest Of Your Tuesday

For much of the rest of the day, skies will be mostly clear across Central Alabama, but as an upper low moves through, some clouds will move in and a few sprinkles or very light showers could be possible over the extreme northern locations during the late afternoon through the evening hours. Those won’t last long and skies will clear out for the late night and overnight hours. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 60s, with lows dipping down into the mid-30s to the lower 40s. A few of the colder spots could hit or drop below freezing for a hour or two.

Wednesday Is How A Fall Day Should Be In Central Alabama

Sunshine will be out in full force throughout the entire daytime hours in Central Alabama, but temperatures will be below normal for this time of the year. Afternoon highs will be in the lower to mid 60s, which is about 10-12 degrees below normal. Overnight lows will be in the upper 30s to the lower 40s.

The Tropics

For the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, widespread cloudiness and showers associated with a broad area of low pressure are located over the western Caribbean Sea, near the Central American coast. Close proximity to land is likely to limit development of this system for the next day or two, however, conditions are forecast to allow some development to occur while the system moves slowly northward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. Chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 5 days is at 50%.

The hurricane accelerated across south Florida and the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area, exiting the coast later the same day.
