Conditions Out There At Midday

| November 6, 2017 @ 12:03 pm

We have a good bit of cloud cover out there as we are making the run up to the midday hour in Central Alabama, but at this point we are dry across the area. Temperatures are warming up out there as well, with nearly everyone in the 70s with the exception of Eufaula as the warm spot at 80 degrees. Birmingham is currently at 72 degrees.

For the rest of your Wednesday, we’ll have more clouds than sun throughout the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening hours with a slight chance of scattered showers or thunderstorms along and north of I-20 & 1-20/59. Chances will be a little higher in the extreme northern part of the area. Much, if not, all, of the area south of I-20 & I-20/59 will remain dry. Afternoon highs will be in the mid-70s to the lower 80s. There may be a few scattered showers in the same general part of the area for tonight and through the overnight hours, with lows dropping into the 60s.

For Tuesday, a cold front will be moving south into the area tomorrow and this will fire off showers and thunderstorms. These will start off in the northern parts of the area and spread southward throughout the day. The good news is that a severe weather threat is not expected with this system. Best chances for rain throughout the day will be north of a line from Demopolis to Clanton to Alexander City, while south of that line should remain dry. Afternoon highs will be in the mid-70s to the lower 80s, with lows in the mid-50s to the mid-60s.

THE TROPICS: Tropical Depression Nineteen is moving toward the north-northeast near 3 MPH over the open Atlantic. A significantly faster north to north-northeast motion is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 MPH with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is expected during the next 48 hours, and the depression could become a tropical storm later today.
