Mainly Cloudy with a Few Sprinkles

| November 25, 2017 @ 11:24 am

More clouds in the sky today as our next front slides south through the state. It is coming through in mostly dry fashion but we can’t rule out a few sprinkles as it does. Nothing too widespread or heavy, and looking at the radar at midday, there are some very light radar returns working from northwest to southeast across North/Central Alabama, but once again, these will not amount to much.

With the added clouds, temperatures are struggling to climb out of the 50s, but most locations should make it into the lower to mid 60s by the end of the day. For tonight, the sky will be clearing and temperatures should settle down into the mid and upper 30s for most locations across Central Alabama.

IRON BOWL FORECAST: Kickoff scheduled at 2:30 PM, expect a partly sunny sky with lowers 60s. Clouds will begin to slowly decrease throughout the game and the temperature will drop to the mid to upper 50s by the final whistle.

EARLY MORNING EARTHQUAKE: A small earthquake was detected in North Alabama early this morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake had a magnitude of 2.2, and its epicenter was just outside Midway, Ala., 10.9 miles west-southwest of Decatur and 15.2 miles WNW of Hartselle. The quake occurred at 4:07 a.m. local time about two miles below the surface. This is at least the 11th earthquake detected in Alabama this year, according to USGS.

SUN-FILLED SUNDAY: Tomorrow should be a gorgeous day across the state and with the new surge of cooler, drier air, the sky should feature tons of sun and temperatures should be a few degrees cooler. Highs tomorrow should be in the lower 60s for much of Central Alabama.
