Winter Storm Warning For Parts of Central Alabama
NWS Birmingham has upgraded the Winter Weather Advisory for some parts of the state to a Winter Storm Warning…
Rain will continue to change to snow between now and 5am, and the snow could even become heavy at times. Warm ground temperatures will offset the accumulation potential some, but a few places could see 2-3″ where heavy snow bands set up. Most will see under 2 inches.
Temperatures will drop into the 28-32 degree range across much of North/Central Alabama in coming hours, and bridges and overpasses will become icy. For those asking if it is safe to drive, different people have a different tolerance level for driving in snow and with ice on bridges. Use extreme caution.
We will go above freezing by late morning and road conditions will improve by then.
More details shortly…
