Late news from the Oklahoman…

– Three people are dead in Lone Grove after a tornado blitzed Carter County tonight, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

No further details on the victims were provided.
County emergency management officials said rescue workers are on the southwest side of town using heavy construction equipment to free people trapped in destroyed homes, and ambulances are staged nearby in anticipation of treating patients with serious injuries.
The tornado ripped through Carter County tonight starting about 7:30 p.m., damaging structures in Wilson and Lone Grove and knocking out power in portions of Ardmore and Springer, county assistant emergency manager Chester Again said.
The tornado first entered the county from the southwest near Wilson and damaged a few unoccupied structures there before passing northeast over Lone Grove, authorities said. At least two homes were reported destroyed on the southwest side of town. Damage and minor injuries were also reported in a mobile home park on Brock Road.
The tornado largely missed Ardmore, although power outages were reported there and a few miles north in Springer, Agan said.
Authorities were in the process of assessing damage early tonight and said it was too soon to tell when the full scope of the storm’s damage in Carter County will be known.
