A Quick Check On Our Weather At 1:00 PM

A beautiful and cool day across Central Alabama as we make our way to the 1 o’clock hour, with a few clouds creeping in over the southern portions of the area at this point. The rest of the area is enjoying unfiltered sunshine.

Temperatures as we approach 1:00 PM are ranging from the upper 40s in the north to the mid-50s in the south. Birmingham was at 52 degrees, while Troy come in as the warm spot at 55 degrees. Haley was the cool spot at 48 degrees.

For the rest of the day, we can continue to see mainly sunny skies throughout the area, with a few clouds streaming in from the southwest over the southern portions of the area. Afternoon highs will range from the lower 50s in the north to the upper 50s to near 60 degrees in the south. Skies will continue to be mainly clear throughout the evening and overnight hours, and lows will range from the upper 20s to the lower 30s from north to south.

Thursday will be another beautiful day throughout Central Alabama, and it will be warmer as well. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 50s to the lower 60s throughout the area. For the evening and the overnight hours, clear skies will be the story. Lows will be in the lower to mid-30s.

ON THIS DAY IN WEATHER HISTORY
1963 – A great arctic outbreak reached the southern U.S. The cold wave broke many records for the duration of cold weather along the Gulf Coast. A reading of 15 degrees below zero at Nashville TN was an all-time record low for that location.
