Clearing Skies & A Little Cool Outside At Midday

| April 9, 2018 @ 11:06 am

It appears at this point that all shower activity that was left over from the pre-dawn hours has moved out of the area, and skies are beginning to clear out from the northwest. At 11:00 AM, temperatures were running in the upper 50s to the mid-60s across Central Alabama, with the warm spot being Tuscaloosa at 66 degrees. Birmingham was sitting at 63 degrees.

For the remainder of the day, we’ll continue to have clearing skies across the area through sunset. Temperatures will feel just a little cool today for this time of the year, with highs reaching the mid-60s to the lower 70s. For tonight and into the overnight hours, we’ll have a mix of stars and clouds in the northwestern half of the area, while the southeastern half will see mostly cloudy skies and a small chance for scattered light showers or sprinkles. Lows will dip down into the lower 40s to the mid-50s.

Tuesday’s weather will be pretty similar to today, as a few lingering showers will be in the southeastern parts of the area, but those will move out by midday and skies will be clearing out once again. Afternoon highs will be right back in the mid-60s to the lower 70s. Tuesday night through the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, we’ll have to deal with chilly temperatures underneath a clear sky. A few places could see some frost as lows will dip down into the upper 30s to the lower 40s. A few of the colder spots could touch the lower to mid-30s for a brief amount of time, but shouldn’t be long enough to affect any sensitive plants.
