COOL, BREEZY DAY: A cold front passed through in mostly dry fashion across Alabama last night, and today will be considerably cooler than yesterday with a high only in the low to mid 60s with a northwest wind of 12-22 mph. Tonight will be clear, and as the wind dies down colder pockets are headed back for the 30s early tomorrow morning with a bit of light frost possible. Most of the larger cities will see a low closer to 40.

Then, during the day tomorrow, the sky will be sunny with a high near 70 degrees.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Saturday promises to be another delightful spring day with ample sunshine along with a high in the mid 70s. But clouds roll in quickly Saturday night, and Sunday looks like a very wet day as a low pressure area will move into the state, passing through the southern counties. Rain should begin Sunday morning, continuing through the afternoon hours and into Sunday night. No risk of severe storms, and probably not much thunder. Just a good ole fashioned rain.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Alabama’s annual spring “A Day” game is Saturday at 1:00 at Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa… it will be a perfect day for the game. With a sunny sky, temperatures will rise from the low 70s at kickoff into the mid 70s by the second half. There is no risk of rain.

NEXT WEEK: An upper trough will linger across the Southeast U.S. early in the week; Monday will remain cloudy with a few periods of rain, and the latest GFS run suggests a few showers are possible even into part of the day Tuesday. Rain amounts from Sunday through Tuesday will be in the 2-3 inch range for much of the state… then the latter half of the week looks dry with highs in the 70s. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
