Storms Diminish, A Few Showers Continue Pushing Across the Area

| May 5, 2018 @ 8:53 pm

The storms over Northwest Alabama and Northeast Mississippi have weakened to a few scattered showers associated with a weak upper-level disturbance.

They are affecting parts of Lawrence, Winston, Walker, Marion, Lamar, Fayette and Pickens Counties. They will move into Morgan, Cullman, Blount, Tuscaloosa and Jefferson Counties over the next couple of hours.

Over East Alabama, showers are ahead of the cold front, across parts of Cherokee, Cleburne, Clay, and Randolph Counties. They will push into Georgia over the next couple of hours.

Lows tonight will be in the 50s with a light northwesterly or northerly wind. Dewpoints will continue to go down overnight, falls into the lower and middle 50s. There could be some patchy fog.

Tomorrow will be a beautiful day, with scattered clouds, warm sunshine, fairly comfortable humidities and a fresh northerly wind.

Another disturbance will pass on Monday, perhaps triggering a few showers. Rainfall amounts will be light and highs will once again be warm, with highs a tad above 80F.

A backdoor cold front tries to work in here Tuesday. That could trigger a few more showers then, but again they would be light.

A stronger system will arrive Wednesday night and Thursday morning, with a few more showers. Rainfall amounts won’t be significant though.

Another front tries to work its way in here late next weekend into early the following week, but again no signs of significant rainfall.

Temperatures will be warm for the foreseeable future with plenty of 80s which is not unusual for May in Alabama. There could be some upper 80s next weekend.
