An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

TODAY AND TOMORROW: Warm early spring weather continues through tomorrow. While there will be cloudy periods, the sun will be out at times, and the chance of rain is so small it really isn’t worth mentioning in the forecast. Temperatures will soar well into the 70s today, perhaps reaching 80 if the sun can break through for any length of time. A high around 80 is likely tomorrow statewide. All of the significant showers should stay west and north of Alabama through tomorrow.

WEDNESDAY AND BEYOND: A cold front will drift down into Alabama on Wednesday and will bring a chance of showers. The front will have little upper support, and as it becomes parallel to the upper air winds it will stall out somewhere over North Alabama. The placement of the front will determine the temperature Wednesday; the Tennessee Valley could drop into the 50s, while areas from Birmingham south are in the 70s. Severe weather is not likely Wednesday with the lack of good dynamics.

With the stalled front, it looks like rain is possible at times all the way through the weekend. The rain won’t be continuous, but just be aware that the latter half of the week will be wet at times. And, cool… looks like we won’t make it out of the 50s on Thursday and Friday as chilly Canadian air flows into the northern half of Alabama.

WEEKEND PEEK: An upper trough in the southern stream will keep the chance of rain going into Saturday; there might be some thunder involved, but once again severe weather is not likely due to the lack of instability. Some rain could linger into Sunday, although it should diminish as the day wears on.

SPRING BREAK WEEK: Watch the Weather Xtreme video for more details on long range ideas; the weather looks fairly cool for the first half of the week as an upper trough becomes established over the eastern third of the nation. The weather could turn warmer and stormy toward the end of the week. Way too early for a specific forecast, of course. And, yep, I know… not everyone is on spring break next week. The weeks are now staggered and seems like somebody is on spring break every week between now and mid-April!
