Air Force Mission 06 into Alberto completed a pass through the center at 6:35 and found a pressure of 992, but the dropsonde did not hit the exact center, so the central pressure was listed at 991 millibars on the 7 a.m. Intermediate Advisory.

The Hurricane Hunters found maximum flight level winds of 56 knots in the northeastern semicircle. That translates to about 58 mph at the surface.

The SFMR instrument indicated reliable surface wind estimates of just over 45 knots, or about 52 mph.

The area of strongest winds appears to me to be smaller than late last night.

The center has moved 38 miles in the past seven hours in a due northerly direction.
