Daily Climate Report for June 13th: Cooler Than Normal For Mid-June In The Magic City

Cloud cover and a few showers kept the Magic City’s high temperature well below normal on Wednesday. The high only made it to 83 degrees, which was 4 degrees below the normal high of 87 degrees. The high was also well short of the record high of 99 degrees set back in 1977. For the early morning low, Birmingham was actually 3 degrees above the normal low of 67 degrees, bottoming out at 70 degrees. Not even close to the record low of 49 degrees set back in 1985. For the month, Birmingham’s average temperature is at 78 degrees, 2 degrees above the normal monthly average of 76 degrees.

The Birmingham International Airport did receive a trace of rain on Wednesday bringing our total for the month up to 2.25 inches, 0.40 inches above normal. There continues to be a rainfall surplus for the Magic City, as the total for the year so far is up to 31.10 inches, 5.28 inches above normal.

Highs for the rest of the work week will be hotter in Birmingham, as it will be close to 90 degrees today and just over 90 degrees on Friday. With the dewpoints in the lower 70s, it will be very muggy and heat index values will be in the mid to upper 90s. Stay cool and hydrated.
