Strong Winds Moving into the Birmingham Area

Wind velocities at 8;35 am off the BMX radar

The severe thunderstorm over northwestern Jefferson County is moving southeastward now into the Birmingham area.

The strongest winds are now approaching Forestdale and Gardendale.  The strongest winds are north of I-22.

They will be affecting Fultondale, North Birmingham, Tarrant, BHM Airport, Irondale, Woodlawn, Roebuck, Huffman, Clay and Trussville over the next 30 minutes.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for most of Jefferson County until 9 a.m.

Be prepared for 60 mph winds.  Be in a safe place, off the roads and away from falling trees as these dangerous storms approach.
