A Quick Check On Our Weather At 1:00 PM

| September 6, 2018 @ 1:17 pm

We have some scattered showers moving north-northwestward mainly over the northern half of Central Alabama as we have just passed the lunch-time hour. There are a few over the southern half of the area, but all of these are forming from the unstable and very humid atmosphere left over from Gordon. Temperatures at this point are running throughout the 80s with the only spot at 90 degrees is Uniontown at Vaiden Field Airport. Birmingham was sitting at 88 degrees.

For the remainder of the daylight hours on this first Thursday of September, skies will remain mostly cloudy with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. The higher chances will be over the western parts of the area, but overall rain chances will be in the 40-70% range throughout Central Alabama from east to west. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s. Shower and storm coverage will dissipate totally for the eastern half of Central Alabama, while the western half may see a stray shower or two lingering around for a while after sunset. Lows will be in the upper 60s to the lower 70s.

Just taking a quick peek at tomorrow night’s high school football forecast… We’ll have a small chance of a few isolated showers or storms during the early parts of the evening, but those will dissipate completely shortly after sunset. Temperatures will start off in the lower to the upper 80s and falling off into the mid to the upper 70s by the final whistle.
