Freeze Warning for Parts of North and Central Alabama Tonight; Dense Fog Advisory this Morning for Southeastern Half of Alabama
The headline is the cold weather expected tonight and tomorrow night across Alabama, which will bring some areas their first freeze of the season, but dense fog is a problem across the southeastern half of the area this morning.
A dense fog advisory has been issued for areas in gray on the map, which includes the following counties in Central Alabama: Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Russell, and Tallapoosa
Visibilities will be one quarter mile or less in the advisory area through 9 a.m.
For tonight, a freeze warning has been posted for much of the northern half of Alabama. The counties shown in teal are in the freeze warning, including the following Central Alabama counties: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Randolph, St. Clair, Talladega, Walker, and Winston. The following North Alabama counties are included as well: Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall and Morgan.
Temperatures will drop to between 27F-32F degrees over North Alabama and to between 29F and 32F over the freeze warning area across Central Alabama. This will cause damage to any sensitive outdoor vegetation.
