Cloudy & Cold Across The Area, But Clearing Skies Are Occuring

| November 15, 2018 @ 12:12 pm

CONDITIONS ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA AT 11:30 AM CST

Most of Central Alabama remains under a blanket of clouds, but we can see clearing starting to occur in the southwestern parts of the area. That clearing will eventually move to the northeast over the rest of Central Alabama and most, if not all of the area, should have mainly clear skies at or just after the evening rush hour. Radar at this time appears to be free from any precipitation, and temperatures are in the 30s all across the area. Haleyville was the coldest spot at 30 degrees, while Demopolis is the warm spot at 38 degrees. Birmingham was at 32 degrees.

WEATHER FOR THE REST OF YOUR THURSDAY

As I mentioned earlier, skies will continue to clear out from southwest to northeast throughout the remainder of the afternoon and into the early evening hours. Temperatures will only slightly warm into the upper 30s to the mid-40s across the area from northwest to southeast. For tonight and through the overnight hours, skies will be mainly clear which will temperatures to drop down into the mid-20s to the lower 30s across the area.

A Freeze Warning is in effect from 10:00 pm CST tonight through 9:00 am CST Friday for the eastern half of Central Alabama, while the warning continues for the western half of the area through 9:00 am CST Friday.

IMPROVING CONDITIONS FOR FRIDAY & THE WEEKEND

We’ll actually start on a nice warming trend on Friday as conditions will be absolutely beautiful for tomorrow and the weekend. We’ll have plenty of sunshine with a few passing clouds with highs topping out in the mid to the upper 50s on Friday, up into the lower to the mid-60s on Saturday, and even warmer from the lower to the upper 60s on Sunday.

FOOTBALL GAMES

HIGH SCHOOL GAMES: Friday evening will be nice, clear, and cool across the area, but those temperatures will be dropping into the chilly category by the final whistle. Kickoff temperatures will be throughout the 40s across the area and dropping into the upper 30s to the lower 40s as we approach the 10:00 pm hour. I have a good feeling that the hot items at the concession stands will be hot cocoa and coffee.

ALABAMA: The Citadel pays a visit to Bryant-Denny Stadium with kickoff scheduled at 11:00 am CST Saturday. Skies will mainly be clear throughout the game with one or two clouds possible. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s at kickoff and climbing into the mid-60s by the 4th quarter. Great day to be in the stands with my son for his first major football game experience.

AUBURN: Much of the same story down on the plains as the Tigers host Liberty University on Saturday. Temperatures at the 3:00 pm CST kickoff will be in the lower 60s and falling into the lower 50s by the 4th quarter. Skies will mainly be clear throughout the game.

UAB: The Blazers head out to College Station on Saturday to take on Texas A&M with a 6:00 pm CST kickoff. Skies will be partly cloudy throughout the game with temperatures starting off in the lower 60s and falling into the upper 50s by the end of the game.

THE TROPICS

No areas of interest across the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, or the Caribbean Sea, and no new tropical cyclone development is expected throughout the next 5 days. Only 15 more days of the Atlantic Hurricane Season left for 2018.
