Sunday Weather Xtreme: One More Dry Day Before Showers Return

| March 24, 2019 @ 5:01 am

For today, we’ll have partly to mostly cloudy skies during the day as a low-pressure system will be forming and strengthening out to our northwest. That will move in our general direction but we’ll stay dry throughout all of the daylight hours, but we could see some showers move in by the late night to the overnight hours. Today’s highs will be in the 70s throughout the area with overnight lows only dropping into the lower to mid-50s across the area.

Monday looks to be wet at times throughout much of the day as showers will be likely and a few thunderstorms are possible. The good news is that no severe weather is expected, which is a big relief considering this is our Spring Severe Weather Season in Central Alabama. Showers should be out of the area by the time for your late local news at 10:00 pm. Afternoon highs will top out in the upper 60s to the mid-70s across the area with lows in the lower 40s to the lower 50s.

We’ll start the clearing process on Tuesday and temperatures will be a little cooler. Surface winds will be out of the north bringing with it cooler and drier air. Skies will become partly cloudy by the afternoon with highs in the lower to mid-60s.

Wednesday will feature plenty of sunshine with only a few passing clouds. We’ll also be a little warmer as highs rise back up into the mid to upper 60s across the area.

Thursday will be another dry and warmer day with a good bit of sunshine. Afternoon highs top out in the upper 60s to the mid-70s across the area.

We’ll have clouds start to build back into the area on Friday as our next rain-making system starts to gather steam out to our west. I believe we stay dry during the daytime, but we could have a passing shower or two during the late night and into the overnight hours. Highs will be in the 70s.

Rain chances increase as that system starts to move into the area on Saturday. We’ll have a good chance of showers, but at this point, thunder does not look likely. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 60s to the upper 70s across the area.
